“We have always been very ‘hands-on’ with our treatment approach. This has also been a key to our success. Our patients really notice the difference. They tell their family and friends and it’s been amazing the power of ‘word of mouth’ to the growth of our business.”

We hope you are all as excited as we are! Pop in and check out our new premises.

July 20th -26th National Pain Week

pain week 2015National Pain Week is upon us and follows the consistent major theme that it is the invisible burden that we don’t want to talk about, often for fear of the consequences. National Pain Week was created in a bid to break the silence and reduce the stigma of chronic pain. There are two main types of pain; chronic pain and acute pain.

Chronic pain is defined as pain that last beyond the time expected for healing following surgery, trauma, or other conditions. It can also exist without a clear reason at all. Acute pain is referred to as pain that lasts for a short time and occurs following trauma or surgery. It acts as a warning to the body to seek help. It is important that you seek treatment from your physiotherapist for acute pain as it can assist in preventing the transition to chronic pain.

If pain is left untreated it can have a significant impact on all aspects of sufferers’ lives. It is proven around 65% of people with chronic pain report interference with daily activities including sleep, work, exercise, and routine self-care, which can have a negative effect on personal relationships, social interactions, and lifestyle.

If you feel you are suffering from pain, don’t suffer the burden – seek help. Our physiotherapists here at Taigum Physiotherapy & Massage Clinic are highly skilled and utilise the most up-to-date treatment methods to combat chronic and acute pain syndrome. Give us a call at the clinic on (07) 3865 6484 and we can start on the road to recovery today.

“Get Your Happy Back” – Spinal Health Week 2015!

This year the National Spinal Health week runs from May 25th – May 31st with the theme Get Your Happy Back! Everyday more and more Australians experience back pain, from everyday niggles and strains to debilitating back pain that limits their ability to work and engage properly in a healthy lifestyle. Back pain is also a leading cause of lost productivity in the work place and forced early retirement.

The main cause of everyday back pain is poor posture. Lower back pain is a growing problem in Australia and ranks second in the world according to the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) latest Global Burden of Disease study. There are several effects poor posture can have:

  • Back Pain
  • Joint & Muscle Disorders
  • Spinal Problems
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Rounded Shoulders and more

Poor posture when sitting, standing, and lifting at work can place unnecessary stress upon your spine. With muscle fatigue or overstretching, your ligaments and discs can weaken which places spinal joint muscles and nerves under stress causing pressure or strain that results in back pain. Adopting healthy habits and postural fitness can significantly reduce the risk of injury or pain later on and have a positive impact on your self-esteem, social relationships, and even mental health.

If you suffer from back pain or poor postural fitness and find it is affecting your ability to live life to the fullest, visit our friendly and informative physiotherapists at Taigum Physiotherapy & Massage Clinic and Get Your Happy Back!
